Dr. Parchewsky will review the area you are planning to have the Botox™ done to determine if you are suitable for treatment.
Injections
Dr. Parchewsky will inject the serum into the corresponding muscle group that produces the wrinkles or causes pain.
The number of injections often depends on the circumstance, but not to worry, the needles are extremely fine and are barely noticeable. A botox™ session typically lasts 15 – 20 minutes.
Downtime
Botox™ treatments have little downtime; after a treatment, you can return to work or home with little inconvenience. However, we typically ask that you stay around for a few minutes to ensure you are okay before you get up and start moving.

What Causes Wrinkles? How Does Botox™ Reduce Wrinkles?
Wrinkles are the creases, folds or ridges we see appear on our skin as we age. Typically they come as a result of repeated facial expressions over a period of time. Other external factors can be sun damage, smoking, dehydration, and certain medications. Wrinkles are inevitable of getting older as our skin becomes thinner, drier and loses its elasticity. Botox™ reduces the fine lines that appear on the face, restoring a more youthful appearance.
How does Botox™ help to stop jaw clenching?
Stress and other factors, such as a misaligned jaw, can cause jaw clenching (which causes tension headaches) or bruxism (grinding, gnashing or clenching your teeth). Contrary to popular belief, many people diagnosed with jaw clenching clench their jaws at nighttime and throughout the day. Clenching forces a ton of pressure on your jaw, which can damage your teeth, including – breakage, cavities or tooth loss.
While a night or mouthguard helps with clenching, realistically, people do not wear a mouthguard 24/7, which is why Botox™ is considered the best alternative.
Botox™ is injected into the jaw muscles that have been contracting too hard. The injected Botox™ helps the muscles relax, including the tensed muscles, which relieves tensioned trigger points. The relaxed muscles also help ease tension headaches.

How Often Do I Need Botox™ Injections?
Typically the effects of Botox™ start to wear off three to four months after the injections. Therefore, we usually recommend that you have a treatment every three to four months. However, as your muscles start to contract less, patients need less treatment, usually around every six months.
How Much Does a Botox™ Treatment Cost?
It is often difficult to predict a price, which is why Terra Dental has a free no-obligation consultation. We can determine how many injections you will need and what the total chair time would be.
Is There Anything I Should Do To Prepare For a Treatment?
We recommend avoiding alcohol a week before your treatment. We also recommend avoiding aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications two weeks before treatment to reduce bruising.
